Caroline Garcia eliminated from entry to Dubai by Madison Keys

by time news

The French Caroline Garcia, world No.5, was eliminated on Tuesday as soon as she entered the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai by the American Madison Keys, 7-5, 6-4.

It’s Garcia’s fourth straight loss to the 2017 US Open runner-up, whom she only beat in their first Fed Cup encounter nearly nine years ago.

The 29-year-old Frenchwoman was eliminated at the same stage of the tournament last season. In the next round, Keys, 23rd in the world, will face Belarusian Victoria Azarenka or American Amanda Anisimova.

It’s a complicated start to the season for the French number 1 who hasn’t found the form of last year.
