CAS heard the case of figure skater Valieva

by time news

Hearings in the commission of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) have ended, at which a decision was made on the admission of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva to compete at the Beijing Olympics. The athlete is suspected of violating anti-doping rules. The decision on admission will be announced on February 14.

The judges at the hearings were representatives from the United States, Italy and Slovenia. Valieva testified via video link. “The athlete will be online and testify,” CAS CEO Mathieu Ribe said. “We assume that she will speak Russian, and we have an interpreter,” he said before the hearing (quoted by AP). The singles competition, in which the figure skater should perform at the Olympics, is scheduled for February 15.

Kamila Valieva’s sample was taken on December 25 during the Russian Championship in St. Petersburg. The banned drug trimetazidine was found in the sample.
