Marked by the presence of the Australian Ambassador to Morocco, Michael Cutts, this visit aims to promote exchanges and the sharing of experiences in the field of football, with an emphasis on women’s football.
Thus, the members of this delegation met the young beneficiaries of the programs developed by Tibu Africa and presented their inspiring journeys.
The visit of this delegation, composed of Tom Engelhardt, head of international partnerships, Leah Blayney, head coach of the Australian women’s national under-20 team and Emma Ilijoski, football player at the Canberra United A club -league Women, also made it possible to explore the possibilities of cooperation with the executives of the Moroccan NGO Tibu Africa.
On this occasion, Amine Zariat, president of the NGO Tibu Africa, indicated in a statement to MAP that this visit is part of the fruitful partnership uniting Tibu and the Australian diplomatic mission in Morocco for several years, through programs focused on the empowerment of girls and women through sport.
This visit, he added, should lead to collaborations to develop new training for the benefit of Tibu beneficiaries and young coaches in order to help them in their everyday lives, but also for better professional integration.
For his part, Mr. Cutts highlighted the ties of friendship that unite Australia and Morocco, stressing that these two countries share the same conviction that economic and social development can be achieved through sport, in particular women’s sport.
In the same way, he noted, these two countries attach great importance to the issue of gender equality so that society expresses their full potential, recalling that the purpose of this visit is precisely to inspire young girls so that they persevere and aim high.
For his part, Mr. Engelhardt said he was “very impressed and inspired” by the efforts of Tibu Africa, partner of the Australian Embassy in Morocco. To this end, he expressed the willingness of members of the Australian delegation to share their experiences with young Moroccans.
