by time news

CFive men were prosecuted in the case for “premeditated murder following robbery, attempted premeditated murder and violence” and the Criminal Chamber delivered its verdict in the appeals court of Casablanca.

After deliberations, the court sentenced the main accused Achraf Sadiki to death penalty, Amin Riyad to life imprisonment, Abderrafic Zouaita to 25 years in prison, Ahmed Samra to 20 years in prison and Hamid Abadou to 5 years in prison.

From the civil action point of view, Hamza Hidam was ordered to pay a fine of 30,000 dirhams, and Badr Bouljoihel’s heirs should receive compensation of 500,000 dirhams for each of his parents and 100,000 dirhams for each of his sisters.

Badr Bouljoihel, a doctoral student in the Faculty of Science and Technology at Mohammedia, who was 23 at the time, was dining with friends at a McDonald’s in Ain Diab on the evening of the tragedy. An altercation broke out between the student’s group of friends and his killer’s group when Badr accused Badr of having an eye on the girlfriend of one of them.

While leaving the restaurant, Badr Bouljoihel’s group of friends were stopped by the killer and his associates. Badr was knocked to the ground with a violent punch to the face, who then went to retrieve his black 4×4, from which he removed the plates before driving over the victim twice.

His killer, whose identity was delayed in becoming public, was a recidivist. He had “inadvertently” caused the deaths of two other people during a car accident in 2018.

He was sentenced in the first instance to a fine of 7,500 dirhams for involuntary manslaughter, 300 dirhams for lack of control and 300 dirhams for non-performance of the necessary maneuver to avoid the accident, with costs and rehabilitation imposed on him.
