Signed by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and the Municipality of Casablanca, the first agreement concerns the organization of cultural events and the rehabilitation of cultural infrastructure and the historic architectural heritage of the city.
The second agreement engaging, in addition to the ministry and the Municipality of Casablanca, the company Casablanca Events & Animation, mandates the latter for the supervision, coordination and organization of cultural and sporting events at the level of the Municipality of Casablanca, with aimed at promoting the influence and attractiveness of the city.
The third agreement, also signed by the three partners, invests Casablanca Events with the mandate of management, animation and maintenance of the Sacré Cœur cathedral and its various infrastructures, also with the objective of developing and promoting cultural matters. at the city of Casablanca.
Speaking on this occasion, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid affirmed that these conventions aim to “put the city of Casablanca at the heart of the cultural industry, culture being a bearer of opportunities real development and job creation for young people.
“We are acting to lay the foundations of a strong national cultural industry,” said the minister, who was delighted that Casablanca was “at the heart of this dynamic” with “major cultural projects” completed or underway.
These conventions aim to further promote the cultural influence of the metropolis, underlined Mr. Bensaid, noting that “among the promising aspects of the cultural industry are video games”. Casablanca, he said, “is well placed to play a leading role in this matter.”
For her part, the mayor of Casablanca, Nabila Rmili, emphasized the efforts made by all parties concerned for the restoration of the Sacré Cœur cathedral, with work which lasted eight years and which took care small details to respect the architectural character of this historic building.
“We are acting to preserve the architectural heritage of Casablanca, a city full of historical monuments. The inauguration of this cathedral is part of this perspective. This is capable of further developing the cultural dimension of the metropolis, and of give new impetus, for a culturally vibrant city”, underlined Ms. Rmili.
The inaugural evening of the Sacré Cœur Cathedral was marked by musical and artistic concerts given by Moroccan and foreign artists, in a spiritual atmosphere which inspires the values of living together, tolerance, cohesion between cultures and shares noble religious values.
