The coach of the Iraqi national team, Jesus Casas, expressed his delight with the victory over the Japanese national team in their second match of the Asian Cup. “I always say that we have great players, and this is the reason for the changes I made in the Japan match from the first match with Indonesia in the Asian Cup,” Casas said in a statement to beIN Sports, as reported by Agency.
Regarding the Japan match, the coach explained, ”In the second half, we played defensively. The Japanese team is very good, and we wanted to have the ball, which is impossible against the Japanese team.”
The Iraqi national team defeated its Japanese counterpart 2-1 in the second round of Group 4 of the Asian Football Cup. With this victory, Iraq topped Group 4 with six points, while player Ayman Hussein won the award for best player in the match after scoring two goals.
