/ The Iraqi Football Association condemned, on Monday evening, the events that accompanied the press conference of the national team coach, Jesus Casas, after the Jordan match, in the round of sixteen of the 2023 Asian Cup.

The Federation continued, in a statement received by Agency, with strong disapproval of what happened in the press conference of the national team coach, “Jesus Casas”, after the match against the Jordanian national team, stressing that it was more painful than the impact of the undeserved exit from the Asian Championship.

He added that what happened “has no connection to the authentic Iraqi media, which is known for its honorable positions, as these actions recorded a black spot in its history through some names that exploited their temporary presence in an important forum to reflect a hybrid image of the media.”

The Football Association condemned the “blatant transgression and abhorrent, reckless actions against coach Kasas”, and decided not to deal with these chaos-seeking media professionals in the future, and to take legal measures to restore the coach’s reputation.

He pointed out that the relevant authorities were contacted to explain what happened and clarify the scenario drawn up early on, adding: “We may reach further steps in order to preserve the image of the national team, which is still lofty, and move towards the goal that we set early to achieve with unlimited support from the Prime Minister, the government, the loyal masses, and the professional media, which absolutely does not accept those actions that have harmed Iraq before harming the coach.”

Earlier today, the Iraqi Football Association denied the news circulating on social media platforms and media outlets regarding the Asian Football Confederation’s decision to ban journalists who caused chaos at coach Jesus Casas’ press conference.

The news indicated that Iraqi journalists would be banned from covering any future sporting events, and that the Prime Ministry would also open an investigation into the matter and demand the names of the journalists from Iraqi media institutions.

The Football Association also announced that it would file a complaint with the 2023 Asian Cup Organizing Committee regarding its match with Jordan, which witnessed an unfair refereeing controversy by Iranian referee Alireza Faghani.

The Iraqi national team bid farewell to the Asian Cup this afternoon, with a difficult loss to its Jordanian counterpart, who scored a fatal goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time after the end of regular time in the controversial match, especially after it witnessed the expulsion of Iraqi striker Ayman Hussein.
