/ Today, Thursday, the Spanish coach of the Iraqi national football team, Jesus Casas, held a press conference for tomorrow’s match, Friday, against Japan, in the second round of the Asian Championship.
“We have to play a perfect match to face Japan well, especially since Japan is one of the strongest teams in the world, and has players who play in the strongest leagues in the world and gave a great performance in the last World Cup in Qatar, and it also appeared well in its first match in the current Asian Championship,” Casas said.
He added, “I feel like I am one of the Iraqi fans, and I want to please this audience and make them happy by achieving good results in the tournament. I also hope to bring happiness to the Iraqis and to live up to the expectations of the Iraqi audience, and for this reason I am very happy to lead the Iraqi national team.”
He continued, “I am satisfied with the performance of the Iraqi national team players. The team will need additional players to participate in the match against Japan tomorrow. We will change our style of play according to the fluctuations and tactics that the Japanese team plays with.”
He explained, “It is impossible for us to present a perfect match in every match. There must be gaps in the team’s ranks from one match to another, and we seek to correct them.” He indicated that “in football, making mistakes is possible, but we always try to correct the mistakes and develop the team.”
In contrast, the Japanese national team coach, Hajime Moriyasu, held a press conference for the same occasion, which is the match against the Iraqi national team scheduled for tomorrow, and said, “I am not worried about facing Iraq despite my loss to them as a player in 1993,” stressing that “the players are ready for the Iraq match to give a better performance than the Vietnam match.”
He added, “We learned from the mistakes of the last match and I am not worried about the performance. We can perform better than that.”
