Dhaka: Another new case has been registered against the country’s ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 58 others for attempting to murder a student during the violent clashes in Bangladesh last month. This information was given in a news released in the media on Sunday. This is the latest case in the series of cases registered against the former Prime Minister of the country (76). Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post and went to India due to student-led protests for reform in the reservation system in government jobs in Bangladesh. A report published in Bangladesh’s English newspaper ‘Daily Star’ said that Fahim Faizal (22) has filed this case. Fahim claimed that he was injured when bullets were fired during a demonstration against the government in Dinajpur on August 4, a day before the fall of the Hasina-led Awami League government. If he had not been treated on time, he would not have survived.

136 murder cases registered

The news reported that after the case filed by Fahim, the number of cases registered against Hasina so far has increased to 155. These include 136 cases of murder, seven of crimes against humanity and genocide, three of kidnapping, eight of attempted murder and one case of attack on the procession of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. According to the statement filed under the case, the protesters were attacked with firearms and weapons due to which Fahim suffered several injuries. In this case, 59 people including Hasina, former whip Iqbalur Rahim and Dinajpur Sadar Upazila President Imdad Sarkar have been made accused. Sheikh Hasina is currently present in India.
