Television Panelist Found Guilty of Defamation in Domestic Violence Case
During an episode of the Chilean talk show Podemos Hablar, television panelist Daniela Campos confessed to experiencing violence at the hands of her ex-husband, Esteban Caldentey. Despite previous allegations being dismissed by PDI, a recent court ruling found Campos guilty of defamation against Caldentey.
The court concluded that Campos’ statements about Caldentey’s violent behavior were motivated by a desire to damage his self-esteem and alter public perception of him. Additionally, the ruling cited Campos’ highly volatile personality, characterized by rapid mood swings and a lack of control over her behavior.
As a result, the court ordered Campos to issue a public apology to Caldentey, acknowledging that there was no evidence of violence on his part.
