Chennai: A case has been filed in the Chennai High Court seeking a ban on holding cricket matches at a cricket stadium built on government land in Pondicherry. The Central Government and the Puducherry Government have been directed to respond to the petition.

Petition filed by Chandran from Laspet, Pondicherry:
In the village of Tuttipattu, government-occupied land has been built by Siachen Technologies, a cricket stadium. A report by the Pondicherry Urban Development Department said the stadium was being built without permission and that it was recommended that the power supply, water supply be cut off and the buildings demolished.
Based on this report, a notice was sent to Siachen’s company asking the government to vacate the premises. Accordingly, it is necessary to enforce this order and ban the holding of cricket matches in the stadium.
Thus stated in the petition.

The petition came up for hearing in a session comprising Justices Raja and Bharath Chakraborty. The judges directed the Central Government and the Pondicherry Government to respond to the petition within four weeks.
