Lucknow: Dharmpal Singh, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, targeted the Congress for doing politics in the name of caste. He said that the Congress does politics in the name of caste. We do not do this. For our party, not caste or religion, but the welfare of the people has been paramount, and will remain so in the future too. Those who did politics in the name of caste till date are now finished.
There was uproar over Anurag Thakur’s statement on Tuesday
It is known that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had demanded caste census in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. He had said that caste census is necessary to bring out the current situation of the society in the form of data, but BJP is opposing it. On this Anurag Thakur had said that those whose caste is not known are demanding caste census. Rahul objected to his statement. He said that the BJP leader has insulted me by saying this, but I will not apologize to him and anyway I do not want his apology.
‘Those who did politics in the name of caste are finished’
After this incident, the battle between BJP and Congress over caste has intensified. On Wednesday also, leaders of both the parties were seen attacking each other over caste. On this, Dharampal Singh said that the Bharatiya Janata Party does politics rising above caste, religion and gender. As far as caste is concerned, we do not oppose it, but our party does not do politics in the name of caste. Till date, all the parties that did politics in the name of caste have ended.
He further said that Congress did a lot of politics in the name of caste, today its plight is not hidden from anyone. BSP did politics in the name of caste, today it is on the verge of extinction, but I want to say one thing that Bharatiya Janata Party does not do politics in the name of caste.
