(CNN Spanish) – At every Met Gala, photographers, journalists, and members of the public alike look forward to Jared Leto’s arrival on the red carpet.

The reason is simple: fill the event with histrionics and outfits that give a lot to talk about on social media. These are some of the most memorable.

Met Gala 2023: The Year Jared Leto Was a Cat

For the sample a button: during the 2023 Met Gala Leto arrived on the carpet dressed completely as a cat. Yes, cat.

The peculiar choice was inspired by Choupette, the famous and beloved cat of the German designer Karl Lagerfeld, to whom a tribute was paid at the 2023 event.

Met Gala 2022: who is the real Jared Leto?

So infamous have been Leto’s extravagant outfits that at the 2022 Met Gala Swedish celebrity Fredrik Robertsson was mistaken for the actor when he walked the red carpet in an Iris Van Herpen outfit.

Social networks went crazy when they realized that it was not exactly Leto. Of course, the actor and singer did not go unnoticed despite the confusion.

Leto walked the red carpet with the Italian designer Alessandro Michele, who until then was the creative director of Gucci, a brand that often dresses the actor and singer.

What caused curiosity was the choice of Leto and Michele: both appeared in identical outfits and giving an air of the creepy twins from the horror film “The Shining”.

The year he “lost” his head

In 2019, Jared Leto made headlines again for another chilling appearance. It wasn’t because of his clothing but because of his accessory: a head, specifically his own, in his hands.

Leto told Liza Koshy in the red carpet broadcast of Voguethat both the outfit and the head were designed by Gucci.

“It’s kind of bizarre,” Leto said. The actor explained that Alessandro Michele was behind the idea for this outfit. That year, the theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion”, which means to be extravagant, to break out of the mold.

Met Gala 2018, when he was inspired by Jesus Christ

The 2018 Met Gala was inspired by Catholicism. The central theme was called “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”, so taking Biblical references was expected on the red carpet.

Jared Leto, once again stealing everyone’s attention, personified one of the most recognized figures in the history of Catholicism: Jesus Christ.

On the red carpet, Leto told Vogue that Michele was “the genius behind” her wardrobe. “Who better could be behind tonight’s theme than an Italian designer who is a devout Catholic?” Leto said in an interview with the publication.

His first Met Gala

Jared Leto’s debut at the Met Gala was in 2016, the year in which the main theme was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology”.

This was the year in which perhaps the actor dressed more conservatively. He wore a monochrome Gucci tailcoat, along with a Cartier cane and brooch.
