Catch the Celestial Show: Partial Lunar Eclipse to Light Up the Night on September 17

by time news

This September 17th, a partial lunar eclipse will take place, the penultimate astronomical event of this year. The year 2024 will end with an annular solar eclipse on October 2nd.

In a lunar eclipse, the earth prevents sunlight from reaching the moon, which causes it to completely disappear as the planet’s shadow covers it during the event. According to NASA, the time at which this eclipse can be seen in Colombia will be between 9:12 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.

Tonight, the lunar disc will be covered by this shadow by 3.5%.

Are there recommendations for this astronomical event?

Being a lunar eclipse, it does not require much preparation. According to experts, to observe it better, it is recommended to move away from any point of light pollution and to find a place with the darkest possible sky and no clouds.
