In Belgium, the Catholic Church is in the midst of an unprecedented scandal: the sale of around 30,000 newborn babies. Most mothers didn’t even know what happened to their babies after birth. The women involved were pregnant single women who were taken to Catholic institutions to give birth. Some reported that they had suffered sexual abuse. The crimes would have taken place between the years 1950 and 1980. The complaint was made by a Belgian newspaper.
