Cathy Hummels wanted to publish a book with her brother, but revelations cast a shadow over her project. Now the publication has been stopped.
Cathy Hummels wanted to publish her next book under the title “Out of the Shadows: Your Way Out of Depression”. According to her own statement, she herself was diagnosed with depression. She wanted to realize the project together with her brother Sebastian Fischer. A book cover was published in 2022, with “Cathy Hummels” and “Dr. med Sebastian Fischer” named as authors.
But “Bild am Sonntag” found out that Fischer is a specialist in psychiatry – but does not have a doctorate. Sebastian Fischer’s explanation: Although he is not yet a doctor, he wants to submit his dissertation and receive the title before the book is published. Nevertheless, the Südwest-Verlag took the first steps at that time and deleted the book cover from the sales platforms.
After Cathy Hummels announced on Instagram at the end of June that the book would be released later than planned – in spring 2025 – it is now clear: the project has been completely buried. Both the influencer and the publisher told “Bild” that they “will not (jointly) realize the book project”. It is not known whether Cathy Hummels and Sebastian Fischer are now looking for another publisher.
It was not the first time that Cathy Hummels wrongly awarded her brother a doctorate. He also appears in her book “My detour to happiness” as Dr. Sebastian Fischer, and she has also referred to him as a doctor on Instagram in the past. However, he himself said he did not consent to the use of his name for the book.
