BELLUNO. Caught off guard by the bad weather, 12 hikers, divided into three different groups, were rescued by the Alpine Rescue team with theSuem helicopter 118 while they were busy on the normal route to the summit of Civetta in the Belluno area.

Late yesterday afternoon (August 29th) a request for help was made to 118 by two couples of hikers stranded at about 2,500 meters of altitude who were unable to go up and down due to the difficulty of the route aggravated by the rain which produced small waterfalls along the route.

Rescuers have fixed the campo base a Palafavera with the helicopter that went to recover two Brescians aged 25 and 26, a 31-year-old from Oderzo (Treviso) and a 44-year-old from Granze (Padova). While the operations for the recovery of the two groups were taking place, the helicopter crew noticed another large group of people higher up who, however, had not made any call signal, nor indicated that they needed help.

But shortly after, a new request for help arrived from that very group of 8 people, 3 of whom were complaining of hypothermia. The helicopter, this time from Trentino emergenza, took on board the eight hikers, all Polish aged between 19 and 28, and brought them back to the valley, where a rescue team was waiting in case of need.
