Cauliflower production is affected by cold winds

Tirupur:

Tirupur district has a large number of copra dry fields. Due to less rainy days and more sunny days, cassava production takes place here in most days of the year. Usually copra production is interrupted only during the rainy season of Aipasi and Karthikai.

A large number of laborers from outlying areas are staying and working with their families in the dry fields of Kopparai. Despite the onset of southwest monsoon, there is no rain in the region. But due to the intensification of monsoon in states like Kerala and Karnataka, strong winds are blowing here. It is often cloudy. A cold wind blows and the heat decreases. Occasional rains also cause delay in drying of kopar.

This year, with the increase in the arrival of coconuts, copra dry fields were operating in full swing, but due to nature’s non-cooperation, copra production has slowed down. The owners of copra dry fields said that copra production could not be done as briskly as before. We expected prices to rise due to impact on copra production. But the price has fallen. They said that the average price per kg is Rs 80.
