Kazakhstan won, this Saturday, the first medal of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, by securing bronze in the mixed team 10-meter rifle event in shooting.
In the match that determined the bronze, the Kazakh team defeated Germany 17-5. The final of the event will be contested between China and South Korea.
Alexandra Le and Islam Stapayev surprised and defeated Anna Janssen, the world number one, and Maximilian Ulbrich (19th), despite being ranked only 33rd and 95th in the world, respectively.
In the final for the gold medal, which is also being held during the morning of this Saturday, the Chinese duo Huan Yuting and Sheng Lihao, who led the qualifiers with a total of 632.2 points, are favorites to win against South Koreans Keum Jihyeon and Park Hajun.
