Kochi: CBI 5 The Brain’s trailer for Mammootty’s much awaited movie has been released. According to the trailer, Sethuramayya is coming this time to solve the mystery of the death of a man who was found hanging. The film is set to release in theaters on May 1. The trailer of the movie hints that the fifth part of the best detective series in Malayalam is not coming for nothing.

The film is slated for a festive release and will be released on Sunday. The audience, who have welcomed Sethuramayya 4 times before with open arms, are eagerly awaiting the fifth coming. The movie has a huge cast. There are indications that there are Ranji Panicker, Saikumar, Mukesh, Anoop Menon, Dileesh Pothen, Ramesh Pisharody and many others who have not been released.
Apart from Sethuramayya’s fifth coming, CBI 5 also features actor Jagathy Sreekumar returning to the stage after a long hiatus. Jagathy, who left the film industry completely after a car accident, is making a comeback as a strong character through CBI5. Jagathy Sreekumar started shooting for the film on February 27 this year. The director had said that Jagathy’s Vikram will be a strong character like any other CBI film.
The last 4 episodes of the Sethuramayya series have been superhits. The films A CBI Diary in 1988, Jagratha in 1989, Sethuramayya CBI in 2004 and Nerariyan CBI in 2005 came out. Sethuramayya’s claim that the director, screenwriter and actor are reuniting after 13 years is unique to the CBI.
Netflix has reportedly acquired the digital rights to the film. At the same time, Surya TV has acquired the satellite rights. The movie will be released on ODT after its theatrical release. Indications are that the digital rights to the film have been sold for a hefty sum. No hint has been received yet about the OTD release date of the film.
The switch on of the film took place on November 29, 2021. The fifth film was released on the 34th anniversary of Sethuramayya’s first film. February 18 marked the 33rd anniversary of a CBI diary entry. The director had said that the film would go down in the history of world cinema as a film series with the same hero, screenwriter and director.
