The money was then allegedly transferred to Karthi Chidambaram’s company. Meanwhile, the CBI raided the house, offices and businesses owned by former Union Minister P. Chidambaram and his son Karthi Chidambaram in a case involving INX Media receiving Rs 305 crore illegally from abroad.

It was then that the CBI came across documents proving that 263 Chinese had been illegally bribed to pay Rs 50 lakh for visas to stay and work in India. According to the documents, CBI officials conducted a full investigation. In it, it was revealed that during the period 2010-2014, the Union Home Ministry had given permission to issue Indian visas to 263 Chinese in violation of Indian Foreign Ministry rules. The CBI also confirmed the direct involvement of Karthi Chidambaram, the son of the then Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram. Following this, S. Baskarraman, auditor of Karthi Chidambaram from Chennai, was first convicted of illegally issuing visas to Chinese by the Delhi CBI, followed by Sivagangai MP Karthi Chidambaram and Vikas Maharia, a representative of a private company that had set up a thermal power plant in Punjab. , Bell Tools Ltd., Mumbai, Maharashtra, has filed a case against unknown government employees and agents for allegedly transferring Rs 50 lakh. Later, CBI officials conducted simultaneous raids by 14 CBI officers from Delhi at three locations, including the house on Hodos Road in Nungambakkam, Chennai, where former Union Minister P. Chidambaram and his son Karthi Chidambaram live, and the office run by Karthi Chidambaram in Nungambakkam.

During the raid, key documents were allegedly seized from the Chinese for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50 lakh. In addition, all the Rs 50 lakh was invested through Karthi Chidambaram’s support company in Mumbai and the documents were found to have received the money through it. According to documents seized at the end of the raid, CBI officials arrested Bhaskar Ramana, the auditor of Karthi Chidambaram, who was included as the first accused in the case, at his home in Chennai around midnight. Karthi Chidambaram’s auditor Bhaskar Raman was later produced in the CBI court in Chennai. The Delhi Special Court has allowed the CBI to remand Karthi Chidambaram’s auditor Bhaskar Ramana in custody for four days.
