Manama: Parents of students who have secured Class 11 admission to CBSE schools in Bahrain have complained that they have to pay extra fees for non-academic months. This year’s 11th graders’ study began in the last week of May. However, parents complain that they are being charged full fees for the months of April and May for conducting only a five-day class. They say they can not afford the financial crisis created by Kovid. Parents who argue that it is unreasonable to demand payment of fees for non-academic months also demand that schools be prepared to waive fees.

Meanwhile, school representatives told Gulf Media that the fees for the months of April and May were decided by the CBSE Gulf Council, a consortium of CBSE schools in the Gulf countries. The Bahrain Chapter of the Council has also taken this decision.

Class XII classes usually begin in April. Due to Kovid, the 10th class examination was delayed this time and the commencement of studies was delayed. Although it is late to start class, teachers have to spend extra time completing the entire lesson on time and doing other learning activities. Schools also say that it is essential to charge reasonable fees for the survival of educational institutions.
