The Constitutional Court (CC) rejected the clarification requested by the Board of Directors of the Congress of the Republic regarding the election of judges of the Supreme Court of Justice and Court of Appeals.

It’s news. This Thursday it was learned that the judges of the highest court rejected Congress’s request, so the order to elect courts no later than December 15, 2023 is maintained.

The deputies were waiting for clarification from the CC to resume the election of magistrates that has been at an impasse for years.

Historical fisgón. The Congress of the Republic should have elected Cortes in 2019, but an injunction from the Myrna Mack Foundation suspended the process.

The accusations were corrected and when the deputies were preparing to elect the Cortes in 2020, the CC issued a new ruling ordering how the election should be.

Months later, a new protection raised by the Public Ministry asked to annul the entire process due to allegations of interference by outsiders, such as Gustavo Alejos, but the CC did not respond to the request, but instead established the election mechanism that for four years Congress did not advance.
