The head of Government of Mexico City, Martí Batres Guadarramaresponded to the accusations made by the opposition alliance regarding a alleged intervention of the local government in the electoral process.

In a press conference, Batres forcefully rejected any accusation against his administration and stated that he will not enter into debate with any candidate or political force.

“He Government of Mexico City does not intervene in the electoral process; I absolutely reject any type of accusation and accusation. We have not and will not get involved in the election,” declared Batres, emphasizing the neutrality of his government in the upcoming elections.

Emphasizing the autonomy of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Attention of Electoral Crimes, Batres highlighted that the accusations of government intervention confuse the powers of this entity with the actions of the City Government.

“The Electoral Crimes Prosecutor’s Office is absolutely autonomous, it does not depend on the City Government in that sense,” he clarified.

The Head of Government highlighted that his administration works universally and openly for all citizens, without any distinction and always within the corresponding legal framework.

“Our commitment is to citizens and respect for electoral regulations,” he concluded.

Santiago Taboada demands an end to intimidation

The candidates of the Alianza Va X CDMX, led by Santiago Taboada, called a press conference to denounce a series of irregularities and alleged illegal actions that are affecting the electoral process in the country’s capital.

Among the accusations are threats, intimidations and arrests of supporters who place propaganda in the city, as well as the alleged misuse of public resources to favor Morena candidates.

In a forceful message, Santiago Taboada rejected the accusations of intervention in the elections and demanded that the head of Government, Martí Batres, remove his hands from the electoral process. “We are not going to be intimidated. The City Government cannot intervene in the election, and we will not allow it,” he stated.

The candidates presented a detailed list of irregularities, including the participation of public officials in proselytizing events, the illegal removal of electoral propaganda and the conditioning of social programs to obtain political support.

In addition, they reported direct threats to volunteers and citizens who sympathize with the opposition coalition.

In an energetic tone, the candidates warned that they will mark every mistake committed during the electoral process and that they will not allow the election to be dirty. “They are not going to bend us. Every time they commit an outrage, we are going to report it,” Taboada stressed.

Complaints

The complaints cover various districts, from Xochimilco to Tláhuac, where cases of propaganda withdrawal, threats to beneficiaries of social programs and misuse of public resources to favor Morena candidates are reported.

In response to these accusations, the candidates announced that they will file formal complaints with the Specialized Prosecutor for Electoral Crimes and the Electoral Institute of Mexico City. Likewise, they reported that they will hold weekly press conferences to keep citizens informed about the irregularities that are occurring during the electoral process.

The Va X CDMX coalition reiterated its commitment to a clean, transparent and equitable electoral process, and called on the competent authorities to investigate and punish any illegal act that affects the popular will.
