At the Cuauhtémoc Mayor’s Office, Clara Brugada also mentioned that a few days ago she launched the Desde la Cuna program, which financially supports children from 0 to almost 4 years of age who do not receive My Scholarship to Start.
It is the most difficult age, that of babies, and it is where we have to support the most with health and nutrition, said Brugada. He recalled that 15 days ago he also delivered transportation scholarships for young university students in Mexico City.
“Everyone who studies university will receive support for their transportation, so Mexico City, always at the forefront of social policy, will have support, social policies, from the cradle to the university,” he pointed out.
There are no excuses for any child or young person to leave school or university for economic reasons, said the Head of Government.
Support for school remodeling
The head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada Molina, stated that, in addition to the La Escuela Es Nuestra Mejor Escuela program, her administration will invest between 2 and 2.5 million pesos per school starting next year.
At the Delivery of “My Scholarship to Start” Cards, at the Monument to the Revolution, the capital’s president spoke about the new social programs that she will allocate for basic education students in Mexico City.
“Here they will receive various supports, one of them is the School Uniforms and Supplies program, which is deposited once a year, today they will receive it. You are going to receive the monthly program (My Scholarship to Start) that is delivered for 10 months, and you are going to receive September, October and November,” said Brugada.
“And it is also important to say that all children are insured against school accidents, with insurance that protects against any accident on the way from home to school, during their stay at school and on the way back home.”
Clara Brugada mentioned that there is a program that reaches all school campuses, The School is Our Best School, with which support is given to each educational community and parents decide how to use the resource.
“But I also want, I want to talk to you about several programs that are going to be delivered in what we call the second floor of the fourth transformation, that is, with this new government that you are going to receive in schools,” said the president.
“The first thing I want to say is that we are going to launch a program to physically renew the schools. That means that if a school needs a roof, which is not enough with the Best School program, they will be able to be attended to, or if in that The same school needs to fix the fences, or put in emergency stairs, solve any physical problem at the school, they will be able to do it.
If they have problems with the furniture as well, Brugada added, and not only that, but if the computer room is in poor condition or there is no room, it will be updated where it is not working and it will be opened where it is necessary.
“We are going to invest between 2 and 2 and a half million pesos per school, we are going to start next year with the schools with the most problems and, year after year, improving, because the best public space in the city has to be the schools.” ”, he stressed.
“Because our boys and girls are there for hours, and since sometimes you can’t see it because the fence is there, they can have problems and we don’t realize it.”
Clara Brugada pointed out that another very important one will be Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, the music program in schools so that children learn to play musical instruments, not just the flute.
My Scholarship to Start, to the federal government

The important thing is that the public resources of Mexico City go to all children, not by family, but by boy or girl, highlighted the capital’s president. That is the most important thing in this program, Clara Brugada noted.
“We have to say that this program, My Scholarship to Start, next year will already be in the hands of the federal government in regards to secondary schools. We will continue in the primaries, as the city government, supporting them, as it should be, but at the secondary level it will now pass into the hands of the federal government and it will be the same and better,” stated the former mayor of Iztapalapa.
“So we are going to have the entire country with the extension of a program that, to be honest, I saw how in the pandemic it supported a lot, when there was no income, when there was nothing, what people received was My Scholarship to Start.”
Brugada asked for applause for President Claudia Sheinbaum because what is being delivered now in the capitals is part of the effort she made as head of Government of Mexico City.

How does Clara Brugada Molina plan to improve school infrastructure in Mexico City?
Interview: An Insight into Mexico City’s Social Programs with Clara Brugada Molina
Interviewer: Welcome to this exclusive interview with Clara Brugada Molina, the Head of Government of Mexico City. Clara, thank you for joining us.
Clara Brugada Molina: Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to discuss the initiatives we’re implementing to support the children and families of Mexico City.
Interviewer: Let’s start with your recent announcement about providing glasses and hearing aids to primary school students. What inspired this initiative?
Clara Brugada Molina: The inspiration stems from our commitment to education and health. We’ve observed that many children face challenges with vision and hearing, which can significantly hinder their learning experience. By conducting preventive medical examinations in schools, we can identify these issues early on and ensure that all children have access to the necessary resources, like glasses and hearing aids, so that no one is left behind.
Interviewer: That sounds like a significant undertaking. How will the implementation of these health checks be organized in the schools?
Clara Brugada Molina: We plan to roll out a comprehensive health program across primary schools in Mexico City. This program will involve screening all students for vision and hearing problems, after which we will provide tailored support for those in need. Our goal is to create an inclusive educational environment where every child can thrive.
Interviewer: You also launched the “Desde la Cuna” program, aimed at supporting very young children. Can you elaborate on that initiative?
Clara Brugada Molina: Absolutely. “Desde la Cuna” is focused on supporting children from birth to almost four years old, particularly those who do not benefit from the “My Scholarship to Start” program. This age group is particularly vulnerable, so we’re placing a strong emphasis on health and nutrition during these formative years to ensure they receive the best start in life.
Interviewer: It seems you’re also investing in education at all levels, including transportation scholarships for university students. How do you see these programs shaping the future of education in Mexico City?
Clara Brugada Molina: Education is a powerful tool for social mobility, and by eliminating economic barriers, we can empower every student to pursue their aspirations. Our transportation scholarships for university students and various support programs for younger students are designed to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder anyone’s educational journey.
Interviewer: Turning to school infrastructure, you mentioned a significant investment in remodeling schools. How critical is this for the students’ experience?
Clara Brugada Molina: Infrastructure is crucial. Children deserve safe, welcoming environments where they can learn and grow. Our investment of between 2 and 2.5 million pesos per school annually underscores our commitment to upgrading facilities, addressing issues like safety, furniture, and technology access. Well-maintained schools enhance not just the learning experience but also students’ overall well-being.
Interviewer: You’ve also announced a music program called “Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol.” Can you tell us about its objectives?
Clara Brugada Molina: Yes! The “Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol” program aims to foster a love for music in our students. We believe that music education is vital for cognitive development and creativity. This initiative will provide children with the opportunity to learn various instruments beyond the traditional flute, helping to nurture their talents and passions.
Interviewer: Lastly, can you clarify how the upcoming transition of the “My Scholarship to Start” program to the federal government will affect students in Mexico City?
Clara Brugada Molina: Starting next year, the federal government will take over this universal social program at the secondary level, but with continued improvements to ensure that every child in the Mexican capital benefits. Our focus remains on equity, providing support based on the needs of each child rather than family circumstances. We are dedicated to making sure that our public resources reach all children effectively.
Interviewer: Thank you, Clara, for sharing these insightful details about your administration’s initiatives. It’s clear that your focus on education and health will have a lasting impact on the children and families of Mexico City.
Clara Brugada Molina: Thank you! I appreciate the opportunity to discuss these important programs, and I truly believe that together, we can build a brighter future for our children.
