A historic agreement was signed between the Chittagong Hill Tracts National Committee and the Chittagong Hill Tracts Association formed by the government on December 2, 1997 for the socio-economic development of the hill districts and the establishment of peace in the region. The 26th anniversary of the ministry is being celebrated today.
A discussion meeting was held on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts in the meeting room of the Sheikh Hasina Chittagong Hill Tracts Heritage Conservation Research Center at Bailey Road in the capital on Monday. Kujendra Lal Tripura MP said in the speech of the chief guest at the discussion meeting, the historic Chittagong Hill Tract was signed on December 2, 1997 under the efficient, far-reaching and wise leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Following this, the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs was formed on July 15, 1998.
The state minister said that everyone wants the implementation of the peace agreement. The government is working sincerely to implement all clauses of the peace agreement. In the speech of the chief guest, the state minister also said that since the formation of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts, various initiatives have been taken to improve the quality of life of the people of the three hill districts in coordination with the Chittagong Hill Tracts District Council, Chittagong Hill Tracts Regional Council, Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board and foreign donors.
