Celebrating Makaravilak in Niagara NRI

Niagara ∙ Ayyappa Puja and Bhajan organized at Niagara Falls. The event was held at the Chinmaya Mission Auditorium in Niagara Falls, under the auspices of Tapasya Sanatana Cultural Venue, a Hindu community in Niagara.

Brampton Sri Guruvayoorappan Temple Pujari Narayanan Namboothiri officiated the ceremony. More than one hundred and fifty people from the Niagara region came to participate in the event.


The ceremony started with the lighting of the candle by Basant Raj Adhikari, Pujari of Niagara Shiv Mandir, Rajeev Varrier, President of Tapasya Niagara, Madhav Khurana of Chinmaya Mission and Pramod Kumar, Realtor. President Rajeev Warrier said that this program is just a beginning and all the festivals will be organized in Niagara under the leadership of Tapasya Niagara as per local custom.

Speaking on the occasion, Pandit Basant Raj Adhikari said that this should be a platform to impart the Sanatana culture to the next generation. After the opening ceremony, there were performances by children and adults. The bhajan was after the performances. Then after Ayyappa Pooja and Padi Pooja, Harivarasanam was sung and the Padipadis ended. After that there was food donation sponsored by the devotees.

Pramod Kumar was the main sponsor of the event. Lakshmi won an Apple Watch in a raffle to promote The Canadian Homes Realty’s app. Vineet Kumar was the event sponsor.
