Organized on Sunday, this ceremony took place in the presence of members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Panama and Panamanian personalities from the political, economic and socio-cultural world.
These include the Deputy Minister of Bilateral Relations, Vladimir Franco, who represented the President of the Republic of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, and the Minister of Foreign Relations, Janaina Tewaney Mencomo.
Among the personalities present were also José Simpson Polo, Minister of the Presidency, Maria Ines Castillo Mides, Minister of Social Development, Bruno Garisto Petrovitch, Executive Secretary of the National Consultation Council for Development, Carla Garcia, Governor of the Province of Panama , as well as two former Ministers of Foreign Relations, namely Omar Jaen Suarez and Roberto Cohen Henriquez.
Likewise, representatives from the business world, the media and civil society attended this ceremony.
In a speech on this occasion, the Moroccan ambassador to Panama, Bouchra Boudchiche, gave an overview of the millennial history of the Kingdom, highlighting the preponderant historical role of the glorious Alaouite dynasty, in the political-world stage, through its relations with the great European courts and the leaders of other countries. She also highlighted the wise and visionary policies of moderation and constant search for peace and stability, within the community of Nations, which have always characterized the external relations and diplomacy of the Illustrious Sovereigns of Morocco, indicates a press release from the diplomatic representation of Morocco in Panama.
The diplomat also reviewed the different stages of recovery of the territory from 1956 to 1975, indicating that since the return from exile of the late HM Mohammed V, the Kingdom has continued to campaign for decolonization. particularly that of African countries (Casablanca Conference, Non-Aligned Conference in Belgrade, within the United Nations system and regional organizations).
In his speech, the ambassador also cited a passage from a speech by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in which the Sovereign underlines that the “Sahara issue is the prism through which Morocco considers its international environment. as clearly and simply the yardstick that measures the sincerity of friendships and the effectiveness of the partnerships it establishes.”
The diplomat also clarified that respect for the territorial integrity of UN member states is in total compliance with the jurisprudence of the International Court of Justice which qualifies this principle as one of the essential bases of international relations and in as an important element of the international legal order, enshrined in Article II paragraph IV of the Charter of the United Nations.
The Moroccan diplomat also highlighted the growing and significant international support for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Kingdom over its southern provinces.
On the other hand, Ms. Boudchiche underlined that since the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Throne of His glorious ancestors, major reform projects have been undertaken in order to modernize the economy, strengthen the rule of law, establish social justice and position Morocco Branding, according to the press release.
The ambassador concluded by noting Morocco’s political will to develop its relations with the Republic of Panama in all areas given the potential of the two countries and their geostrategic positioning.
For his part, the Panamanian Deputy Minister of Bilateral Relations, who spoke on behalf of the President of the Republic, congratulated His Majesty the King on the occasion of the Sovereign’s accession to the Throne of His glorious ancestors.
The Panamanian diplomat highlighted the historical depth of the Kingdom, and spoke of the great modernizing role of His Majesty the King, who made Morocco an emerging power thanks to the developments made in the economic and social political fields, and in matters of sustainable development, immigration and the fight against climate change.
He expressed the desire of the Republic of Panama to develop its relations with the Kingdom of Morocco which shares the same challenges and many similarities, notes the press release.
During this celebration, promotional videos from Morocco were broadcast and participants were able to see the developments and progress made by Morocco under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
