In statements collected by MAP, several officials, dignitaries and representatives of various organizations highlighted, on this occasion, the leadership of His Majesty the King thanks to which Morocco resolutely continues its development journey. They also underlined the strength of the centuries-old relations which unite Morocco and the United States.
Thus, the Secretary of State of the District of Columbia, Kimberly Basset, praised the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI in the development process that Morocco is experiencing, highlighting the efforts made by Morocco to promote development and unity in Africa.
The Kingdom, which advocates the values of tolerance and living together, can serve as a model for several other countries around the world, she added.
For his part, the CEO of the American-Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC), David Hamod, affirmed that the Throne Day serves as a favorable opportunity “to highlight how the relationship between Morocco and the United States- Unis has grown and matured over the years.” “It’s a relationship that we are very proud of,” he added.
Mr. Hamod also noted the increasingly strong presence of the Kingdom in the African continent, particularly “through its banking system and its airline and increasingly through its companies.”
For his part, the head of the political affairs department of the American Jewish Committee, Jason Isaacson, stressed that “the relationship between Morocco and the United States is extremely important for the American people and government as well as for the community Jewish community in the United States who has special ties to the Kingdom.
“The Throne Day is an opportunity to celebrate the vision and influence of HM King Mohammed VI and to recall the history of relations between Morocco and the United States which goes back further than those with any another country,” he said.
As for Bassima Alghussein, executive director of the Middle-East Policy Council (MEPC) think-tank, she recalled that Morocco was the first country to recognize the independence of the United States.
Thanks to its strategic geographic positioning, Morocco is a key country on the international scene, “where different cultures from Africa, the Middle East and Europe meet,” she noted.
In a similar statement, American journalist and television producer Katie Solov emphasized the “very close” ties between Morocco and the United States.
Solov, who is preparing a TV show on the Kingdom’s tourist attractions, said that “many of our viewers now want to travel to Morocco,” explaining that Americans are attracted by the legendary Moroccan hospitality and the Kingdom’s rich, millennia-old culture.
