Celebrations in Bangladesh for the election of Dravupati Murmu as the President of India

Tribal people in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka celebrate the election of India’s first woman from a tribal community, Dravupati Murmu, as president. They sang and danced in front of the National Parliament and participated in music and dance performances.

Adivasi Development Council, Dhaka Bengal Celebration Committee, representatives of various student bodies belonging to minority ethnic groups and members of tribal groups participated in it.

Bangladesh Adivasi Forum General Secretary Sanjeep Trong said that the election of a woman from a minority tribe in India as the President is a good news for India, Bangladesh and the whole world.

He also mentioned that this is a matter of pride for the ethnic minorities in his country. He also invited Murmu to visit Bangladesh after taking oath as the President of India.

Murmu’s election as the President of India is a happy day for the oppressed, downtrodden and exploited people, Dhaka Professor Mespa Kamal said.
