Celebrity Arrest: Kenji Haga Charged with Fraudulent Real Estate Schemes Alongside 6 Others

by time news

Once again, Kenji Haga has been arrested. On the 25th, the Aichi Prefectural Police arrested seven individuals, including talent and company executive Kenji Haga (real name: Mikiou Touma, 63), on suspicion of obstructing compulsory execution, among other charges, for allegedly falsifying real estate registrations to evade seizure.

Among those arrested was a man (69) who is the leader of a specific designated violent group affiliated with the Yamaguchi-gumi, and Fumio Nozaki, the vice president of the Japan Federation of司法書士 (Shihou Shoshi), along with five others. Following Nozaki’s arrest, the Japan Federation of Shihou Shoshi released a statement expressing regret.

Haga and the others are suspected of committing fraud when, in June 2023, they created false registrations indicating that ownership of a building and land in Okinawa Prefecture owned by Haga was transferred to a company he represents, in an effort to evade seizure.

At one time, he provided great material for wide shows.

According to the announcement, the seven are suspected of changing the ownership of land and two commercial buildings in Chatan, Okinawa, from Haga to his management company last June, thereby attempting to evade seizure through a false registration contrary to the actual circumstances.

Haga was born and raised in Okinawa Prefecture. After graduating from a local high school, he moved to Tokyo to pursue a career in entertainment. In 1982, he was selected as one of the three members of the first “Iitomo Seinen-tai” (Good Morning Youth Squad) on Fuji TV’s popular program “Waratte Ii Tomo!” (It’s Okay to Laugh!). His popularity grew, but in 1994, his relationship with Anna Umemiya became public, revealing that he was burdened with massive debts. Anna’s father, Tatsuou Umemiya, openly opposed their relationship.

In response, Haga referred to himself as “Seii Taishogun” (Shogun of Conquest), playing on words to claim he was the “Seii Daishogun” (Shogun of Sincerity), which the media humorously covered. Ultimately, however, he and Anna broke up in 1999, and they never married.

Thereafter, Haga’s dark side would come to shock the public.
