Unprecedented emotion: the Céline Dion performance at the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is already one of the highlights in the history of the Olympic celebration.

The Canadian, one of the most popular and awarded singers in the world, returns to the spotlight in her first major performance since being diagnosed with “stiff person syndrome,” a degenerative condition that forced her to step away from the stage and public life in recent years.

Céline Dion appeared from the balcony of the Eiffel Tower, the most iconic landmark in Paris, France and one of the most known and visited in the world, paying tribute to Edith Piaf, the leading figure in French music, with a performance of the classic ‘L’Hymne à l’amour’ (A Hymn to Love).

Recently, in an interview with NBC, the singer confirmed she would be back – and fortunately, she did so at one of the largest and most anticipated events on the planet, the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

“The disease has taken nothing from me. I will return to the stage, even if I have to crawl. Even if I have to speak with my hands, I will do it. I will!”, she stated.
