The Senegalese went to the polls on Sunday March 24 to elect their new president. And according to trends, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the PASTEF candidate will succeed Macky Sall, as president of the republic.
The day after the election which sounds like a lesson in democracy in West Africa, often faced with coups d’état, Cellou Dalein Diallo welcomed the smooth running of the Senegalese presidential election.
The president of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG) congratulated Bassirou Diomaye Faye on his election and wished him every success in the exercise of his function as president of Senegal.
“As an African democrat, I can only welcome the smooth running of the presidential elections on March 24 in Senegal, further highlighting the roots of democracy in this sister country.
The Senegalese exercised without hindrance their right to choose their President in perfect transparency and with strict respect for the truth of the ballots.
Congratulations to the country of Téranga and to the lucky winner of this very open presidential election, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, to whom I wish good luck and success in the exercise of this high office,” responded Cellou Dalein Diallo.
The former Guinean prime minister has been living in Senegal since his house in Dixinn Port was recovered by the transitional authorities.
