Amaravati river irrigated farmers said:
As the water in Amaravati river has been opened, rice cultivation has started in Aravakurichi, K. Paramathi and Thanthonrimalai areas. In this case, many people are sorting and cleaning empty cement bags in Amaravati river. Due to this, the water becomes polluted.
Complaint has been made to the Karur Pollution Control Board about this, but the authorities are not aware of it as usual. The Pollution Control Board authorities are not taking steps to take serious care of the mixing of dye waste in the Amaravati river. Karur Pollution Control Board officials should take steps to stop the dumping of cement bags.
