Plaza 1 has presented the fourth edition of the ‘Cénate Las Ventas’ contest, an initiative that combines the nocturnal bullfights in July at Madrid’s Monumental with a wide gastronomic offer of products from the Community. The act was attended by Carlos Novillo, Minister of Environment and Interior of the Community of Madrid, Luis Suárez, president of the Madrid Academy of Gastronomy, Antonio Reguilón, president of Madrid Wine Regulatory Councilor, and Rafael García Garrido, businessman from the square , together with Simón Casas, also present.
«The format is based on the idea of the fusion of two cultures that provide great economic activity in the Community of Madrid: bullfighting and gastronomy. And there is no better way to spread it than in a setting like Las Ventas”, explained Garrido, after thanking the Community of Madrid for its support of bullfighting. «There is something that unites the two worlds, and it is the rural world. Until August 3, bullfighters will do the paseíllo to demonstrate their quality, and the public and fans will be able to enjoy it in the nights of young Madrid spirit, respecting the rite of bullfighting».
Carlos Novillo, the new Minister of the Environment, Agriculture and Interior in the Community of Madrid, explained that “since 2018 this initiative has been held with great success. I am pleased that one of my first acts combines two areas of competence that affect my department, such as the defense of our producers and the promotion of their products, and, of course, support for bullfighting. After the interventions, chef Juan Pozuelo offered a tasting that offered a version of the caprese salad and a Madrid lamb stew brioche, which he prepared in front of those present.
The first appointment of this contest will take place tomorrow at 9:00 p.m., and José Antonio Lavado (presentation), Alejandro Mora and Christian Parejo will fight, with steers from Torrehandilla.
