Munnar: An ancient building built for the collection of customs fees during the time of the Travancore kings has collapsed at Podimet on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border.

During the time of the king of Travancore, one of the kings who ruled Kerala, a building was built of stone and mud on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu to collect customs fees. After the separation of the states on the basis of language, the building that collected customs fees became a check post for the commercial and income tax departments.

After the implementation of GST, the check post became inactive. As it is an ancient building, a plan has been submitted to the Kerala government to maintain it. The building collapsed due to the rain in the area. The actions of the authorities who could not save the heritage of the building, which stood tall with the Rajamutra for more than a century, left everyone dissatisfied.
