An excellent concert on the occasion of the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of Anton Bruckner. Two notable works by the Austrian composer and organist: the Mass in F minor (WAB 28) and the Te Deum (WAB 45) for solo voices, choir and orchestra. With Martina Rüping (soprano), Hanna Roos (alto), Jean-Noël Briend (tenor), Clemens Morgenthaler (bass). Ensemble Koinonia de Vienna Austria, Collegium Vocale Strasbourg-Ortenau, Singakademie Ortenau, Musiciens Sans Frontières Alsace-Ortenau, Olaf Fütterer, conductor. The first performance of Bruckner’s Te Deum took place in 1886. Bruckner described his Te Deum as “the pride of his life”: “If the good Lord summons me one day and asks me: ‘Where are you buried? talents that I gave you? ?” I will give him the roll of the scores with my House Deum, and he will be a merciful judge for me.” This work is one of the most important choral works of its time and is considered one of the highlights of the composer’s artistic creation. The Mass in F minor is one of the composer’s most important works of choral music in the 19th century.
