At the all-Russian competition for young engineers-researchers “Sputnik”, employees of the Center for Experiments in Space of the world-class REC “Engineering of the Future”, created on the initiative of the State Corporation “Roscosmos” on the basis of Samara University, evaluated the projects of schoolchildren who made it to the final.

Schoolchildren during the defense within the framework of the new track “Experiment” proposed to the expert jury the ideas of conducting scientific research on the International Space Station. In total, 22 applications were received from different regions of Russia, 19 made it to the final. The jury selected five projects that will be recommended for consideration by the head enterprise of the Roscosmos State Corporation – the Central Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (TsNIIMash).

The guys from Nizhny Novgorod, Makeevka, Ufa, Krasnodar and Perm have already received the first assessment of their work from cosmonauts Andrey Babkin and Mukhtar Aimakhanov and from specialists from the Center for Experiments in Space of Samara University. Queen.

Let us recall that the strategic industrial partner of the world-class REC “Engineering of the Future” SC “Roskosmos” makes a serious bet on working with the participants of the center. On behalf of the state corporation, two infrastructure projects are being implemented in Samara within the framework of the REC activity program: the Center for Commercial Space and the Center for Experiments in Space. Both work on the basis of Samara University, a REC member university.

Andrey Kramlikh, director of the Center for Experiments in Space at the world-class REC “Engineering of the Future”, noted that the projects of the winners are distinguished by their deep elaboration and relevance.

“The astronauts who participated in the defense using online communication also noted the degree of elaboration of the work,” he says. – This is important, because it is the cosmonauts who will carry out these experiments. The guys not only prepared interesting projects, a number of them even brought prototypes of their developments, presented the results of their research on the chosen topic and, during the defense, answered difficult questions from the jury. The next stage is the consideration of projects by the coordinating scientific and technical council of TsNIIMash, which will be able to recommend them for implementation on the International Space Station.

For example, the myosuit proposed by Arina Filimonova will not allow the muscles of astronauts, who work for months in weightless conditions, to degrade. And the project of Dali Bogatyreva “Space Dacha”, which is a closed ecosystem, in space will allow to generate water and electricity without human intervention. Strains of Rhodococcus microorganisms, according to Alena Varlashova, after tests in space will help in neutralizing the oil spill already on Earth. The projects will be in demand during further space exploration.

This year, 9,780 schoolchildren from all regions of Russia and three foreign countries took part in the Sputnik competition. Many of the guys came to Samara University this week for the third in-person stage. They got acquainted with the scientific and educational activities of the university, research laboratories, listened to lectures by leading scientists.
