In the future, Central Asian countries are considering the possibility of exporting electricity to Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan.

As reported by Day.Az with reference to the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, this was discussed during the 13th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

The co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission, the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov and the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov emphasized that the commission is an effective platform for developing business ties and implementing joint projects.

During the meeting, the parties noted that SOCAR and Uzbekneftegaz are cooperating in the joint development of oil fields in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, the implementation of projects in the oil and gas sector and other areas.

It was also emphasized that the Memorandum of Cooperation on the unification of the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan signed in May 2024 is an indicator of effective and mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector.

Let us recall that the 13th meeting of the Azerbaijani-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) was held as part of the business visit of the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikail Jabbarov to Uzbekistan.

In addition to the IPC meeting, the Minister will take part in a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company and meet with the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov.
