Ceremony in Bogotá in celebration of the Throne Day

This ceremony was distinguished by the presence of the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francisco J. Coy, the former Vice President of the Republic of Colombia, Marta Lucía Ramírez, in addition to civil and military authorities including the Commander of the National Army and the Commander of the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá, as well as parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Colombia, media representatives, businessmen and Moroccans residing in this South American country.

In a speech on this occasion, Mrs. Loudaya affirmed that this celebration is an ideal opportunity to review the great achievements accomplished in the Kingdom, stressing that under the leadership of HM the King, Morocco has taken important steps on the path of development and progress.

Thanks to the public policies adopted in recent years, with a firm foreign policy, an innovative development strategy and cooperation projects sealed with the majority of African countries, the Kingdom, with its institutional stability and relevant strategic choices, has become a leader on the continent, she noted.

Furthermore, Ms. Loudaya highlighted Morocco’s commitment to working for the protection of the environment by positioning itself globally in the field of renewable energies.

Regarding bilateral relations, the Moroccan diplomat, who recalled that Colombia includes cooperation with Africa among its foreign policy priorities, noted that Morocco is a key partner of Latin America and several countries at the regional and continental levels.

For almost half a century, Morocco and Colombia have established diplomatic relations, recalled Ms. Loudaya, stressing that the Kingdom was among the first African and Arab countries to open an embassy in Bogota, with a view to establishing the link between two continents.

In this sense, she noted that Morocco, since 2021, has been the first African country to exempt Colombians from visas, which has impacted the increase in tourist flow.

Ms. Loudaya reported a new framework of bilateral partnership with the signing of several agreements in various fields, in addition to the exchange of visits between officials of the two countries.

She also cited an initiative between the Congress of the Republic of Colombia and the university and academic circles aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, expressing on this occasion her thanks to the members of the Colombian House of Representatives and Senate for the friendship they have for Morocco and their firm position in support of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.
