A remarkable story of resilience and hope is unfolding as Choa, a former member of the K-pop group Crayon pop, announced on Thursday she is expecting identical twins – a pregnancy achieved against incredibly low odds following a battle with cervical cancer.
Choa shared the news via a detailed post and accompanying video on her personal account, detailing a journey marked by medical challenges and unwavering determination. The singer, who married a private citizen in 2021,received a devastating cancer diagnosis during a prenatal screening shortly after their wedding.
overcoming a Challenging Diagnosis
Following the diagnosis, Choa underwent surgery to restore her health and openly documented her attempts to conceive naturally through her personal channel, “Choa Life.” Despite being told by multiple university hospitals that having children was unlikely due to the impact of her cancer treatment,Choa refused to give up.
“She met with a hospital and professor who could keep her fertility without giving up,” according to reports. After attempting natural pregnancy, Choa pursued in vitro fertilization (IVF), and remarkably, conceived identical twins on her first attempt. She is currently 10 weeks pregnant.
A One Percent Chance
The pregnancy itself is considered a medical anomaly.Choa faced a heightened risk of premature birth due to a lack of cervix, leading doctors to recommend the transfer of only one embryo during IVF. However, against a one percent probability, the single embryo divided, resulting in identical twins.
“At the beginning of the pregnancy, she hid her condition with care, but added that it was difficult to hide anymore as of severe morning sickness and nausea,” reports indicate. Choa plans to chronicle her pregnancy journey on her personal channel, aiming to offer hope to couples facing infertility.
A Message of Hope and Gratitude
Choa expressed deep gratitude to those who supported her throughout her illness and pregnancy challenges. Online reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with comments expressing congratulations and admiration for her perseverance.
“Congratulations,” “I’m so moved,” and “I’m so impressed with the hard work” were among the sentiments shared by supporters. Choa’s story serves as a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit and the possibility of overcoming even the moast daunting obstacles.
