César 2023: pairs, place, tribute… What we know about the ceremony

by time news

In the – very funny – trailer of the Cesar ceremony, Jamel Debbouze sends a text message. “Do you want to present the Cesars with me? he taps into his phone. Before jumping on realizing that he has sent the message to his entire repertoire… On Friday February 24, from 8:45 p.m., it is indeed Jamel who will launch the 48th edition of the French awards given to the 7th art from the Olympia, in live and unencrypted on Canal +.

If the comedian will be in duo, from this opening or later in the evening to award a prize, it will not be with those who are delighted with this idea in the trailer (Alex Lutz, Ahmed Sylla, Eye Haïdara, Léa Drucker…). But with Monica Bellucci.

Jamel will then give way to Ahmed Sylla and Léa Drucker: the duo, who recently shared the poster for “Femmes du square”, will award the first four trophies (best sets, best costumes, best first film and best short film by fiction). “This year, to animate the Cesar ceremony, the choice was difficult… So we took them all”, assures the voice-over of the trailer.

Renew a ceremony whose audience is at half mast

After the Drucker-Sylla duo, others will parade to distribute the statuettes: Alex Lutz, Raphaël Personnaz, Emmanuelle Devos, Eye Haïdara, Audrey Lamy, Michel Hazanavicius, Jérôme Commandeur, but also Leïla Bekhti and Benoît Magimel (respectively for that of the best Actor and Best Actress).

As revealed by Le Figaro, Virginie Efira will give the César of honor to American director and producer David Fincher. Other key moments of this high mass of cinema chaired by Tahar Rahim: Marina Foïs will present the tribute to Jean-Louis Trintignant, who died on June 17, and Charlotte Gainsbourg, whose film “Jane by Charlotte” is nominated in the category “best documentary”, will sing in French.

All these artists will rehearse from next week to polish their numbers. With this “collegial” device, the Académie des César and Canal + intend to renew a ceremony whose audience is at half mast. Last year, the evening was marked by its lowest score for ten years (1.3 million viewers).
