This event took place on September 4 and 5, 2024 in Cancun, Mexico, as part of the activities prior to the gala final of the national competition.

Portillo’s creation is named «Little Bull of Fire»a design inspired by traditions shared by several Latin American countries. The costume is a representation of the Burning of the Little Bull, which the designer says is a tradition present in countries such as Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru and Paraguay. For César, this festivity reflects the essence of the Miss Universe pageant, which brings together women from different cultures and traditions.

The “Torito de Fuego” costume is made up of five pieces that combine elegance, tradition and art. The design begins with white pants adorned with embroidery, stones and gold details, and a fringed belt also in gold, decorated with roses embroidered on white fabric that add dimension.

The top of the outfit is a white long-sleeved top that maintains the same aesthetic, with gold details and fringes that provide movement and elegance. The sleeves of the top end with two red roses. The central element of the outfit is a structure that imitates a “little bull,” similar to those used in traditional dances. This piece is decorated with feathers and sequins that simulate fire. To complement the outfit, Portillo added a white scarf with gold details, which harmonizes with the rest of the outfit.

Her designs, unique creations inspired by the rich culture of Guatemala, continue to captivate admirers both nationally and on prestigious international stages, proof of this is her participation in the Miss Universe Mexico 2024 pageant. Cesar Alejandro Portillo Portillo has gained recognition both nationally and internationally for his exceptional designs of traditional costumes. Although he graduated as a Technician in Aquaculture from the University of San Carlos of Guatemala and practiced his profession for a few months, he began working in his mother’s clothing business, which was the beginning of his career in fashion design.

Throughout her career, Portillo has designed traditional costumes for several Guatemalan representatives in national and international pageants. Among them are Ivana Batchelor and Michelle Cohn, who have worn her creations at Miss Universe. In addition, she has participated in events such as Reina Hispanoamericana, Miss Earth and Miss Grand International. In this last pageant, her design “Xecul Occidental” won the award for Best National Costume in 2021, which further consolidated her prestige in the fashion world.
