Ten years after his election as mayor of Marina di Sopra, all traces of Cetto la Qualunque had been lost. We discover that he lives in Germany and, putting aside any political ambition, for the Germans he represents only an irresistible and picturesque successful entrepreneur, who considers Germany a land of conquests and the Mafia a quality mark. Its chain of restaurants and pizzerias is in fact very popular. He has a beautiful German companion and two neo-Nazi in-laws who look at him with the sympathy reserved for migrants. The call of his land, however, remains strong and the news of the worsening of the conditions of his beloved aunt who raised him, induces him to return to the scene of the crime, and of delight. In Italy, his aunt will reveal to him something about his past, and about his birthplace, which will forever change the course of his life and, “unfortunately,” even those of all of us. One of the most important passages of the story is the one in which Cetto La Qualunque makes the speech to the Nation, proposing himself as the new King – Cetto Primo Buffo, King of the two Calabries.
