Flood victims in Chalco, State of Mexicoblocked the Mexico-Cuautla federal highway heading to Mexico City for more than seven hours, in protest because after 18 days of being under black water, help has not reached all the affected families.
They are neighbors of the Jacalones colonymainly those who complain that government aid has not reached this colony.
They also demanded that the drainage network be repaired, as well as the damage to the Solidaridad Collector, which runs along the avenue of the same name and where the trolleybus from Santa Martha to Chalco will pass, so that the stagnant water in the streets can flow away and be removed from homes.
Just last week, a torrent fell in Chalco, flooding the colonies again. Jacalones, Cultures of Mexico, Chalco Gardens, Emiliano Zapata and Tres Marías, where the beam reached a metre in height in several streets, so it lodged in the houses.
Rocío Villasana, a resident of Juan Fernández Albarrán Street in the Jacalones II section of the neighborhood, warned that some families are trapped on the second floor of their homes and cannot get out.
He also added, have begun to present skin and intestinal diseases.
THEY ASK FOR HELP
Another problem is that people have not been able to go out to work and are asking the authorities for food and household goods.
Meanwhile, Gerardo Ramírez, from the Tres Marías neighborhood, said that the mayor and deputy-elect, Miguel Gutiérrez Morales, came over the weekend and promised them that the flooding would subside within 24 hours, but that has not happened.

and the problem is that the tons of garbage clogged the Collector and to this day it has not been uncovered.
The Government of Chalco set up several temporary shelters. One of these spaces is located in the Culturas de México neighborhood, where a pharmacy was set up to assist those affected.
