Even when playing away from home, as in the case of ‘Challengers’.

I can’t wait for the Lido audience to dance to the tune of Trent and Atticus’ soundtrack on the opening night of the 80th edition of the exhibition. For me as a filmmaker opening the festival is a dream that comes to fruition, and I am deeply grateful to Alberto and the entire La Biennale di Venezia family for this recognition to Challengers”.

‘Challengers’ stars Zendaya as former tennis prodigy turned Tashi Duncan coach: a force of nature that allows no mistakes, both on and off the pitch.

Married to a star player returning from a losing streak (Mike Faist of ‘West Side Story’), Tashi’s strategy for redemption takes a surprising turn when he faces the now dead Patrick (Josh O ‘Connor from ‘The Crown’), his former best friend and Tashi’s ex-boyfriend.

As their past and present collide and tensions mount, Tashi will have to wonder what’s the price of victory.

‘Challengers’, directed by Luca Guadagnino, is written by Justin Kuritzkes and produced by Amy Pascal, Luca Guadagnino, Zendaya, Rachel O’Connor. The executive producers are Bernard Bellew, Lorenzo Mieli and Kevin Ulrich.
