Challenging message to Intel: AMD unveils new processors

The chipmaker unveiled at a conference in Taiwan the Reisen 7000 processor for desktops that is half the size of Intel’s competing chip, as well as a series of laptop processors at a very low price

AMD, Intel’s main competitor in the field of PC chips, unveiled its new products for the coming year last night (Sunday) at the Compotex conference in Taiwan. The main product it unveiled is a Reisen 7000 processor for desktops (desktops) which will be produced at a size of 5 nm – half the size of an Intel Elder Lake parallel chip and still smaller than the following Intel chips which are expected to be a size of 7 nm. The new chips (code name Rafael) will need a new type of motherboard and are based on up-to-date architecture.

Along with desktop chips, AMD is also testing its power on ultra-cheap laptops with a new Reisen series called Mendocino and its uniqueness is at a very low price – which makes it available for Windows and Chrome OS at $ 400 to $ 700. This is not the first time the company has targeted this price range, but in the present case it is a significant jump in performance especially when it comes to power consumption. Laptops with the new chips are expected to offer an average usage time of about 10 hours battery-based.

The Zen 4 architecture unveiled at CES several months ago aligns with the Intel equivalent with support for a number of modern technologies that were lacking in the previous generation.
