jpnn.comJAKARTA – Director of Research and Programs at Puspoll Indonesia Chamad Hojin highlighted the phenomenon of political hoppers that has re-emerged ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections.

One of them is the incumbent gubernatorial candidate for East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Isran Noor, who within a week was registered as a cadre of the Democratic Party as well as a cadre of the PDIP.

According to Chamad Hojin, Isran Noor adds to the long list of ‘grasshopper’ politicians in Indonesia.

Isran Noor became a PDIP cadre who was confirmed through a circular from the party led by Megawati Soekarnoputri on August 13, 2024.

PDIP attached a list of names of regional head and deputy regional head candidates from PDIP cadres in the 2024 simultaneous regional elections.

Previously, Isran Noor had been inaugurated as a Democrat cadre on Friday (9/8/2024), when he received the recommendation from the party with the Mercedes symbol.

According to Chamad Hojin, Isran Noor adds to the long list of ‘grasshopper’ politicians in Indonesia.

Although, Hojin said, there are many reasons why politicians change parties. Starting from internal disputes, because the party’s votes are declining to personal ambitions for power.
