Despite the tension caused by the daily confrontation with Bolsonaristas’ hate speech in the Chamber, left-wing deputies manage to find inspiration to love in that polarized environment. With the public announcement of the relationship between Orlando Silva (PCdoB-SP) and Fernanda Melchiona (PSOL-RS), the House gains the third couple of leftist parliamentarians.

“For those who still don’t know, Orlando and I are dating. Long live love”, wrote the deputy in a post on Instagram.

The couple joins two others, formed by left-wing deputies: Gleisi Hoffmann and Lindbergh Farias (PT), Sâmia Bonfim and Glauber Braga (PSOL).

The column asked Orlando Silva if political affinity helps in the sentimental field. “Sintonia no amor is also an expression of sharing values and perspectives”, replied the PCdoB deputy.

Deputy Gleisi Hoffmann has a rational explanation for this harmony. “We relate to those we live with. And we live with people who share the same values”, she observes.

Glauber Braga believes that affinity in militancy has to do with the sentimental side. “In our case, from political admiration, love was born,” he says.

For Orlando Silva, the fight against hate creates a connection between those who are on our side.

“We live in difficult times and it takes a lot of love to face so much darkness. Experiencing political clashes together also brings those who fight together”, he believes.
