Champions League: Atlético will receive Manchester in a full stadium

by time news

No one knows yet if Atlético Madrid will join Real Madrid and Villarreal in the Champions League semi-finals. But the Colchoneros won, this Wednesday, a first victory before the reception this Wednesday (9 p.m.), Manchester City in the quarter-final return. Sanctioned by UEFA with a partial closure following discriminatory behavior by part of the Spanish supporters (Nazi salute and throwing of projectiles), Atlético was heard in its request by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The latter has temporarily lifted the decision of the European football authorities.

“The CAS accepted our request and temporarily suspends the partial closure of the Wanda-Metropolitano. All socios (supporters-shareholders, editor’s note) and supporters with a subscription or a place for the match this (Wednesday) evening will be able to access the stadium ”, confirmed Atlético Madrid in a press release.

UEFA will have to put away the banners with messages against racism which were to be deployed in place of the 5,000 spectators representing a partial closure. To the delight of Diego SImeone and his players, the Wanda Metropolitano stadium will thus be able to display full, i.e. 67,000 seats. Good news for Antoine Griezmann’s teammates who will at least need that to overthrow the City mountain. In the first leg, the English won 1-0.
